<br />21~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 1986 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular session held on February 25, 1986, that the City of Mar- <br />tinsville Business, Professional, Occupational License Tax Ordinance <br />of 1983 be and is hereby amended as follows: <br /> <br />Article III <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />TAXES ON CONTRACTORS; RETAIL SALES; <br />FINANCIAL REAL ESTATE AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES; <br />AND REPAIR, PERSONAL, BUSINESS AND OTHER SERVICES <br /> <br />1. MINIMUM TAX AND VARIOUS RATES. Except as may be specifi- <br />cally provided elsewhere in this ordinance, all persons, firms, <br />and corporations engaged in the classes of enterprises herein- <br />after set forth shall pay a local license tax of $30.00, or the <br />rate set forth below for the class of enterprise listed, which- <br />ever is higher: <br /> <br />(c) For real estate and professional services, <br />including, but not limited to, the professions, <br />businesses, trades, occupations and callings set <br />forth on Schedule 4 attached hereto and incorpo- <br />rated by reference herein, fifty-eight cents per <br />one hundred dollars of gross receipts; <br /> <br />(e) For repair, personal and business services <br />and all other businesses and occupations not speci- <br />fically listed or excepted in this Article, a rate <br />of thirty-six cents per one hundred dollars of <br />gross receipts for those businesses, trades, profes- <br />sions, occupations and callings set forth on <br />Schedule 5 attached hereto and incorporated by <br />reference herein. <br /> <br />Schedules #6, #7, and #8 have been combined with Schedule #5. <br /> <br />Council unanimously nominated the following members and/or staff members for membership <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />on the following policy committees of the Virginia Municipal League: <br /> <br />Councilman Groden for reappointment to the Community and Economic <br />Development Policy Committee; <br /> <br />Councilman Williams to the Effective Government Policy Committee <br />(to replace Councilman Oakes, now a member of the VML's Executive <br />Committee and, also, a member of the League's Legislative Committee, <br />on which latter committee he expressed a desire to continue serving); <br /> <br />City Manager Brown for membership on the Environmental Quality Policy <br />Committee; <br /> <br />Police Chief Terry L. Roop for membership on the Public Safety Policy <br />Committee; and <br />
