<br />TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 1987 <br /> <br />,-, <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of financial reports (prepared by the City's <br /> <br />Finance Department) and, in so doing, concurred with Vice-Mayor Williams' <br /> <br />request that City Manager Brown prepare a report (for Council) on the current <br /> <br />status of "back" taxes and collections. <br /> <br />Councilman McClain called to Council's attention a "Crime Prevention Bulletin" <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />now being sponsored and/or published by the City's Police Department and <br /> <br />commended the Police Department for this community service. <br /> <br />In accordance with the requirements of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA <br /> <br />(1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried <br /> <br />by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purposes <br /> <br />of (1) considering nominees for appointment to the Dan River VASAP Executive <br /> <br />Board and the West Piedmont Planning District Commission's Technical Advisory <br /> <br />Committee, (2) discussing the possible sale of certain City-owned properties, <br /> <br />and (3) considering a contractual matter. At the conclusion of this Executive <br /> <br />Session, Council reconvened into regular session and took the following actions <br /> <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session (no action being taken on the <br /> <br />contractual matter): <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />A. Unanimously appointed Mr. Dennis W. Hammack to membership on the <br />Dan River VASAP Executive Board for the unexpired term thereon <br />of Mr. Irving R. McGhee, resigned, which term will end on <br />April 13, 1988; <br /> <br />B. Unanimously appointed Ms. Trudy A. Williams (Attorney-at-Law) to <br />membership on the Technical Advisory Committee of the West <br />Piedmont Planning District Commission for a three-year term <br />beginning January 1, 1988, to replace Mr. George B. Adams, Jr., <br />who requested that he not be reappointed at the expiration of his <br />current term ending December 31, 1987, on which committee <br />Ms. Williams currently serves as an Alternate; and <br />
