Number of School Personnel for regular programs for the years <br />1977-78 (having been 233.7) through 1987-88 (being 237); <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Update of Instructional Programs, dealing with the basic <br />skills education and beyond, testing, support programs, and <br />instructional/supervisory strategies; computer inventory <br />(176, plus 65 printers, throughout the school system); <br />computer education; cost effectiveness of alternate programs; <br />analysis of test results; mandated changes in State testing <br />programs; and report on drop-outs; <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Enrollment Data, showing school population membership of <br />5,032 at September 30, 1965, decreasing therefrom over <br />succeeding years to 2,961 at September 30, 1987 (of which <br />latter number 245 students were in kindergarten, a program <br />which began on a half-day basis in 1973-74 and went to a <br />full-day basis in 1982-83, and 273 were tuition students <br />from outside the corporate limits); <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />Summary of Special Education Programs, in which 383 students <br />are currently enrolled, consisting of programs for pre- <br />school handicapped, educable mentally retarded, seriously <br />emotionally disturbed, trainable mentally retarded, speech <br />impaired, visually impaired, and those with specific learning <br />disabilities, of which number some 12% will probably be <br />returned to regular classroom instruction; <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />Evaluation Procedures and Techniques now in place for <br />certificated personnel, secretaries, maintenance personnel, <br />and administrative personnel; <br /> <br />10. <br /> <br />Housing and Demographic Data; <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br />Recommendations for Dealing with Asbestos Removal from public <br />school buildings and other publicly-owned buildings; and <br /> <br />12. <br /> <br />A summary (from a Report of the Martinsville High School Class <br />of 1987) which indicated that Martinsville City Council has <br />funded an excellent public school system (division) that <br />provides schools and an administration which are fully <br />accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools <br />and by the State Board of Education; special education programs <br />which meet the needs of handicapped students; guidance <br />counselors from kindergarten through grade 12; busing for all <br />entitled students; comprehensive preventive maintenance programs; <br />special programs for talented and gifted students throughout all <br />grades, including Honors and Advanced Placement Classes at <br />Martinsville High School; computer instruction at every grade <br />level; vocal and instrumental music programs for every grade <br />level; supervised job placement programs; vocational programs <br />ranging from office skills to commercial sewing; alternative <br />programs; a comprehensive interscholastic program for boys and <br />girls; a JROTC program; a "drownproofing" program in conjunction <br />
