Council unanimously authorized City Manager Brown to ask <br /> <br />the Department of Transportation to proceed with the traffic light installations, as <br /> <br />proposed, completion of which is expected before January 1, 1988. <br /> <br />Responding to an query from Councilman Groden, relating to a joint study and request <br /> <br />recently made by Mr. Groden and Councilman Cole pertaining to the City's investment <br /> <br />policy and/or invested funds, City Manager Bro~n indicated that the requested <br /> <br />information will be forthcoming on or prior to Council's next regular meeting <br /> <br />scheduled for October 27, 1987. <br /> <br />In accordance with the requirements of subsection (a)(l) of Section 2.1-344 of the <br /> <br />CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion. which was duly seconded and <br /> <br />unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session <br /> <br />for the purpose of considering nominees for appointment to the City's Transportation <br /> <br />Safety Commission and to the Dan River VASAP Executive Board for the unexpired terms <br /> <br />of Mr. Irving R. McGhee, who served as a member of both agencies until his recent <br /> <br />resignation, which was submitted by Mr. McGhee because he and Mrs. McGhee are moving <br /> <br />to Lynchburg, Virginia. At the completion of this Executive Session, Council <br /> <br />reconvened into regular session but took no action to name a successor or successors <br /> <br />to Mr. McGhee. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes then declared this meeting adjourned,. <br /> <br /><.
