,JI'i " . ,II' .jo~ ' /~ "..-... .- ( TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 1987 A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsvil1e, Virginia, with Mayor L. D. Oakes presiding, was held Tuesday, Septemer 22, 1987, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members, with the exception of Councilman Alfred T. Groden (who was absent because of illness), were present, viz., L. D. Oakes, Mayor; Clyde L. Williams, Vice-Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr.; and Allan McClain. After the invocation and a cordial welcome extended visitors present (by Mayor Oakes), Council unanimously approved of the minutes of its regular meeting held September 8, 1987. On second reading and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the following()rdinanc~(No. 87-7) which amends Section 4.1 ("Deposits") of the Terms and Conditions of Electric Service provided by the City: Ordinance No. 87-7 ~ BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled September 22, 1987, that Article IV, Deposits, Section 4.1, of the City's Terms and Conditions of Electric Service be amended, as follows: ARTICLE IV Deposits Sec. 4.1 Required a. Residential Service As security for the payment of bills, a deposit equal to the highest monthly bills within the previous twelve (12) month period will be required of a customer. Such deposit is based ~pon the experience of the previous tenant and is due at the time the contract is executed. Additionally, the City reserves the right to require subsequent increases in a deposit if the customer's payment record and consumption experiences reflect that a higher deposit is required to protect the interest of the City.
