("6 t) TUESDAY, JULY 14, 1987 Council acknowledged receipt of a letter from Ms. Barbara L. Foley, Executive Director of the Martinsville-Henry County Chapter of the American Red Cross, in which Ms. Foley commended the City for its sponsorship of the successful bloodmobile visitation on June 5, 1987, coordinated by Mr. James W. Hopkins, the City's Assistant Public Works Director. City Manager Brown notified Council of the resignation of Mr. J. Michael Grubbs, Assistant to the City Manager, effective July 24, 1987, noting that Mr. Grubbs has accepted a position with the City of Bowling Green, Kentucky, as its Personnel Director, which position will include other administrative duties as may be required by Bowling Green's City Manager. Council tentatively scheduled its 1987 (annual) tour of City facilities for early October, 1987. Pursuant to the requirements of subsection (a)(I) of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purposes of (1) considering nominees for appointment to the Overall Economic Development Plan Committee and (2) to consider a personnel matter. At the conclu- sion of this Executive Session, Council reconvened into regular session but took no actions on the matters considered in Executive Session. Council acknowledged comments and inquiries by Councilman Cole regarding (1) regulations, if any, applicable to tractor-trailer traffic on Rives Road and (2) proposed usage of an improved area in the J. Frank Wilson Memorial Park, said area being opposite the intersection of Booker Road and East Church Street Extension.
