Mr. Medley also noted that the proposed plant and operation will not replace his present Stultz Road detergent plant. The Planning Commission reported, too, that at its public hearing Mr. James P. Price, Jr., who operates businesses at 405 Bridge Street, registered his--and his sister Elizabeth H. Price's--opposition to the requested rezoning, as - did Ms. Christine C. Craig, by letter, of 230 Park Street. After considering this petition, the. Planning Commission amended the petition to the extent that the Commission recommended a more restrictive M-3 Industrial zoning of the property. In so doing, the Commission pointed out that M-2 districts require no setbacks, whereas M-3 districts specify front-yard setbacks of fifty (50) feet, and further, the Commission was of the opinion that at least the prior C-3 front-yard setback of fifteen (15) feet be required, although there is no way of making this a binding condition of the proposed rezoning without amending the City's Zoning Ordinance. In lieu of such an amendment to the present Zoning Ordinance (which is being contemplated in the on-going rewriting and revising of the ordinance for Council's consideration), the Commission recommended that said lots at 410 Memorial Boulevard be rezoned to M-3 Industrial. This recommendation appearing to be satisfactory to the petitioners, Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted by Council on this recommendation at Council's forthcoming April 14th regular mee ting.
