r' (
u,

September 12, 2006

currently produced at their facility and will need to maintain two separate

buildings and sewer lines. After questions from Council, the Clerk was

directed to advertise for public hearing and place on the September 26 agenda.

The next item was a request from the Planning Commission on behalf of

Dona M. Whitfield, Alfred & Leora Hampton, Rudy Hampton, James E. & Lena

Millner, Sr. and James E. & Jewel Millner, Jr., to rezone 1104, 1106, 1108,

1109, 1110, 1112, 1114, and 1115 Fishel Street (Tax Map 47(01)00/02, 03 &

47(02)00/3A-3F), from M-2 Industrial to R-9 Residential and to amend the

Proposed Land Use Map to indicate these parcels as Medium Density

Residential rather than the present designation of Industrial. Wayne Knox,

Community Development Director, explained that the owner of 1115 Fishel

Street wants to construct rental housing for senior citizens and because six of

the eight parcels in question already contain occupied residences, it is

requested that all eight parcels be rezoned to residential. Mayor Reynolds

asked if this rezoning would fall in line with the City's Comprehensive Plan that

is currently being updated and Mr. Knox stated it would. The item will be

placed on the September 26 Council agenda for public hearing and Council

action.

Another request from the Planning Commission is to amend the City's

Comprehensive Plan in order to rename a short section of street known as

Fairy Drive and located off Northside Drive, to Dudley Street. Wayne Knox,
