<br />June 13, 2006 <br /> <br />absence of Mark Heath. The EDC will be hosting Governor Kaine at Knauss <br /> <br />Foods for a plant tour as part of his day in area with the New College initiative. <br /> <br /> <br />The Board will be approving the FY07 budget at its upcoming June 15 meeting <br /> <br /> <br />and the website is being revised. A meeting has been scheduled with the A & E <br /> <br /> <br />firms that submitted bids for the virtual shell building and the Buxton Group <br /> <br /> <br />has been hired to evaluate the commercial and retail sites in the Martinsville- <br /> <br /> <br />Henry County area. They are currently working with 15 prospects and six are <br /> <br />active. Mr. Barnett then answered various questions from Council. <br /> <br />Brenda Prillaman, Customer Service Coordinator, presented the <br /> <br />quarterly neighborhood focus report on the Westside area. <br /> <br />Wade Bartlett, Finance Director, gave an update on the Good Neighbor <br /> <br /> <br />Fund, indicating that citizens would see a new line on their utility bill <br /> <br /> <br />beginning with the bill mailed on June 30, 2006. When a customer returns the <br /> <br /> <br />stub portion of the bill with their payment, they will need to fill out the blank <br /> <br /> <br />space indicating the amount of the donation, all of which are tax deductible. <br /> <br />All the funds donated will be used 100 percent to assist city utility customers <br /> <br />and will be administered through the Salvation Army or other agencies that <br /> <br />express an interest. <br /> <br />Dan Collins, City Manager, gave a brief overview of changing the May <br /> <br /> <br />Council elections to November for Council's consideration.
