<br />April 25, 2006 <br /> <br />Dan Collins, City Manager, reminded everyone of the dedication ceremony this <br /> <br /> <br />Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 3 p.m. on lot 5 at the Patriot Centre and that <br /> <br /> <br />Henry County unanimously approved at their meeting today the proposal to <br /> <br /> <br />build the manufacturing facility on said lot. He mentioned that he had <br /> <br /> <br />attended the Blue Ridge Power meeting last week; that we are still working on a <br /> <br />power contract even though one has been signed for six months and we are <br /> <br />looking at buying capacity in areas to try and achieve 18-25% of our load at a <br /> <br />fixed rate. He also reminded everyone of the Business Appreciation luncheon <br /> <br />on May 17 at 12 Noon at the Best Western. <br /> <br />Council Member Clark reminded everyone of the upcomIng Council <br /> <br />election on May 2 and encouraged citizens to get out and vote. <br /> <br />Council chose to handle the Closed Session item in open seSSIOn. <br /> <br />Council Member Roop moved to re-appoint Donna Martin O'Dell to a three-year <br /> <br /> <br />term on the Dan River ASAP Board ending April 12, 2009; the motion was duly <br /> <br /> <br />seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - <br /> <br /> <br />O. Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Reynolds, Roop, Ferrill, Clark. Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br />There being no further business to come before Council during their <br /> <br />regular meeting, upon motion by Council Member Ferrill, duly seconded, by <br /> <br />unanimous vote, Mayor Cobbe declared the meeting adjourned at 8: 11 P. M. <br />
