i ,,~ .L March 14, 2006 A regular work session of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was held on March 14, 2006, in Council Chamber, Municipal Building, beginning at 1 :00 P. M., with Mayor Joe Cobbe presiding. Council Members present included: Joseph R. Cobbe, Mayor; Kimble Reynolds, Jr., Vice Mayor; and Council Members James W. Clark, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. Mayor Cobbe opened the meeting. Mayor Cobbe welcomed the Martinsville High School Boys Basketball Team and their coaches to the meeting and recognized them with a Resolution for winning the Group AA State Championship for 2006. After being read by the Mayor, Council Member Roop moved to adopt the following Resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, all members voting: Vote: 5-0. Yeas: (5) Cobbe, Reynolds, Roop, Ferrill, Clark. Nays: (0) None. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Martinsville High School Bulldogs Basketball Team completed its regular 2005-2006 season as the Piedmont District Tournament Champions and the Region IV Tournament Champions; and WHEREAS, the Bulldogs advanced to the Virginia High School League Group AA State Tournament; and WHEREAS, the Martinsville Bulldogs Basketball Team ultimately became the 2005-2006 Group AA State Champions of the Virginia High School League, with a VHSL record thirteenth state championship and final record of 23 wins and 6 losses; and WHEREAS, these young people, through displaying their team effort, sportsmanship, determination, skill and ability and their coaches exemplify the spirit and quality of the young people of our community and the athletic programs in our schools, in turn reflecting positively on their community; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled March 14, 2006, that it does hereby recognize and congratulate the young men of the Martinsville High School Bulldog Basketball Team-
