<br />January 24, 2006 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />during the summit it was decided that Council and staff would meet later in <br /> <br />the year to do some long-range planning so see what we want the City to look <br /> <br />like in the future. He solicited input from citizens as to what they think a <br />strong city should look like. <br /> <br />Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance <br /> <br /> <br />with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and <br /> <br /> <br />upon motion by Council Member Roop, duly seconded, and by unanImous <br /> <br /> <br />recorded vote, Council convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of <br /> <br />discussing the following matters: Appointments to Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />as authorized by Subsection 1. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each returning member of <br /> <br /> <br />Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open <br /> <br /> <br />meeting requirements were discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only <br /> <br /> <br />those business matters identified in the motion convening the Closed Session <br /> <br /> <br />were heard, discussed, or considered during said Session. Upon returning to <br /> <br />Open Session, Council took the following action: <br /> <br />Appointments to Boards and Commissions as authorized by Subsection <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Council Member Clark moved to appoint Sandra L. Haley, of 105 <br /> <br /> <br />Dearborn Street to an unexpired three-year term on the School Board <br /> <br /> <br />ending June 30, 2006; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the <br />
