They reviewed the results of a recent survey and unveiled their <br /> <br />new slogan and logo, "We Love This Place!" The official kick-off of this initiative <br /> <br />will be at the Trade Show in March. David Rotenizer, Director of Tourism for <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />the EDC, also expressed his appreciation to the volunteer citizens working on <br /> <br />this committee and indicated that this campaign is a strong component of <br /> <br />tourism. <br /> <br />Council considered the acceptance of an offer to gift to the City a small <br /> <br />portion of real estate adjacent to the proposed trail next to Wade Street. Wayne <br /> <br />Knox, Director of Community Development, indicated that this is a pie-shaped <br /> <br />piece of land owned by James Coleman, which will require some annual <br /> <br />maintenance, but no utilities to be moved. After discussion, Eric Monday, City <br /> <br />Attorney, stated that because it is acquisition of real property a public hearing <br /> <br />will have to be held before action can be taken. The Clerk was directed to <br /> <br />advertise the public hearing for the next meeting on February 14,2006. <br /> <br />Council next considered the adoption of a Resolution in support of the <br /> <br />Virginia First Cities 2006 Legislative Agenda. Council Member Ferrill moved to <br /> <br />adopt the following Resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the <br /> <br />--. <br /> <br />following vote, all members voting: Vote: 5-0. Yeas: (5) - Cobbe, Reynolds, <br /> <br />Roop, Ferrill, Clark. Nays: (0)- None. <br />
