Nays: (0) <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Citizens Against Family Violence has determined there exists a need for additional <br />shelter space to meet the demand of women, men, and families in the Martinsville/Henry County area, <br />and is pursuing funding from the Commonwealth of Virginia for this purpose; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled January <br />10, 2006, that Council hereby supports the efforts of Citizens Against Family Violence in their pursuit of <br />funding from the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br />Wayne Knox, Director of Community Development, gave a brief summary <br /> <br />of the reason for a public hearing to solicit public input on local community. <br /> <br />development and housing needs in relation to Community Development Block <br /> <br />Grant (CDBG) funding for the Cherry Street project in the community. He <br /> <br />requested that the public hearing be placed on the agenda for the January 24th <br /> <br />meeting due to the fact that the required advertising had not been completed. <br /> <br />Council considered conducting a public hearing for the purpose of <br /> <br />receiving citizens interested in appointment to one position on the City's School <br /> <br />Board. Mayor Cobbe declared the Public Hearing open. The following citizens <br /> <br />.- presented for consideration: Mark Anderson of 1102 Knollwood Place, Sandra <br /> <br />Haley of 105 Dearborn Street and Troy Rakes of 307 Oakdale Street. Mayor <br /> <br />Cobbe declared the public hearing closed and announced to the applicants that <br /> <br />they would conduct interviews at the end of the meeting in closed session. <br />
