<br />July 26, 2005 <br /> <br />Council next considered the need to conduct a public hearing and <br /> <br />consider adoption of Ordinance 2005-7, on first reading, on a request by the <br /> <br />Planning Commission to amend various sections of the Zoning Ordinance and <br />Land Subdivision Ordinance. <br /> <br />Wayne Knox, Director of Community Development, reviewed the <br /> <br />amendments to the Zoning and Land Subdivision Ordinance. Mayor Cobbe <br /> <br /> <br />opened the Public Hearing. There were no speakers, and the Public Hearing <br /> <br /> <br />was closed. Council Member Roop moved to approve Ordinance 2005-7, on first <br /> <br /> <br />reading; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following roll call <br /> <br />vote, all members voting: <br /> <br />Vote: 5-0. <br />Yeas: (5) Cobbe, Reynolds, Roop, Ferrill, Clark. <br />Nays: (0) None. <br /> <br />Council considered business from the floor. Leonard R Jones, minister <br /> <br />and president of the local NAACP asked what were the requirements to be on <br /> <br /> <br />the city school board. City Attorney Monday indicated that they must be a <br /> <br /> <br />resident of the city and at least 18 years of age. Chris Koumparakis of <br /> <br /> <br />Ridgeway and a city taxpayer expressed his concern about the Chamber of <br /> <br /> <br />Commerce becoming a shadow of our government and that council members <br /> <br /> <br />should become more involved in local affairs. <br /> <br /> <br />Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session.
