June 13, 2005 A work session meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was held on June 13,2005, in Council Chamber, Municipal Building, beginning at 1 :00 P. M., with Mayor Joe Cobbe presiding. Council Members present included: Joseph R. ,-, Cobbe, Mayor; Kimble Reynolds, Jr., Vice Mayor; and Council Members James W. Clark, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virqinia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion by Council Member Roop, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matter: A. Appointments to Boards and Commissions, as authorized by Subsection 1. 1 . School Board At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each returning member of Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following actions: - A. 1. Council Member Roop moved to reappoint James H. Johnson, Jr., of 1507 White Oak Court, to a three-year term on the School Board ending June 30, 2008; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Clark, Cobbe, Ferrill, Reynolds, Roop; Nays (0) - None. 1. Council Member Ferrill moved to reappoint Nancy L. Baker, of 919 Hunting Ridge Road, to a three-year term on the School Board ending June 30, 2008; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Clark, Cobbe, Ferrill, Reynolds, Roop; Nays (0) - None.
