AFDC-FC (AID FOR DEPENDENT CHILDREN-FOSTER CARE) - Provides <br />maintenance and care for children othenNise eligible for AFDC (now called <br />TANF) for whom the local agency has bccn given the responsibility for placement <br />and care by the court or who have been voluntarily entrusted to the Department. <br /> · Average number of eligible children per month: 41 <br /> · Average benefits per month: $34,478.10 <br /> · Average benefits per child per month: $840.93 <br /> · Total benefits: $41:~,737.21 <br /> <br />ADOPTION ASSISTANCE - Local Departments of Social Services determine <br />eligibility for adoption assistance based on a child's special needs. The local <br />DSS with whom the adoptive parents have the adoption assistance agreement <br />remains responsible for all payment provisions of the agreement. In addition to <br />maintenance payments, adoption assistance policy provides for special service <br />payments to meet the child's nccds. Payments for residential treatment are <br />permitted provided they am included as part of the child's adoption assistance <br />agreement. <br /> · 36 children received subsided adoption assistance <br /> · Average amount per child per month in benefits: $630.00 <br /> · Total benefits for Special NeedsAdoption/Maintenance: ~;272,'112.30 <br /> <br />FRAUD PREVENTION, INVESTIGATIONS, & COLLECTIONS - Fraud <br />Investigators work directly with case workers to actively prevent fraudulent <br />receipt of services, payments, and benefits. They also investigate whether <br />persons receiving assistance are doing so fraudulentiy and initiate court actions <br />when needed in order to recoup fraudulently obtained money I benefits. <br /> · 11 TANF referrals: collected $6,202.89 (includes recoupments) <br /> · 58 Food Stamp referrals: collected $15,492.80 (includes recoupments) <br /> · 2 Medicaid referrals: collected $218.44(includes recoupments) <br /> · I Day Care referral: collected $286.00 <br /> · ·Debt Set-Off: collected $6,064.44 <br /> · 20 miscellaneous referrals <br /> · 3 prosecutions <br /> · 2 pending prosecutions <br /> · ~28,264.57 total recouped I collected. <br /> <br /> <br />
