January 25,2005 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company and <br />Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad are about to embark on a <br />volunteer recruitment initiative designed to bring attention and <br />membership to our local units. <br />BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled January 25, 2005, that the <br />Martinsville City Council declares the week of January 30 through <br />February 5, 2005 as "Be A Hero Week" in the City of Martinsville. <br />Furthermore, lhe Council publicly brings attention and acclaim Io <br />lhose who already volunteer, and asks all other Martinsville citizens <br />Io consider giving their lime, talents and effort to becoming an <br />emergency services volunteer so they, too, can "Be A Hero." <br /> <br />Clarence Monday, Assistant Fire Chief, presented an update regarding the EMS <br /> <br />transport and billing system. A discussion ensued regarding payor sources, account <br /> <br />balances, and notices. <br /> <br />Mayor Cobbe.recognized Dr. Scott Kizner, the City's new School Superintendent. <br /> <br />Council considered business from the floor, but there was none. <br /> <br />Council Member Roop moved to approve the following Consent Agenda items; <br /> <br />the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following roll call vote, with all <br /> <br />members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Clark, Cobbe, Ferrill, Reynolds, Roop; Nays (0) <br /> <br />- None: <br /> <br />Second reading of the following Ordinance 2004-20 relative to a <br />Tree Ordinance governing public property for the City: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA, in regular session assembled <br />December 14, 2004, that lhe City of Martinsville Zoning <br />Ordinance be amended to read as follows: <br />Sections XXVI, Tree Ordinance, text as given herein <br />[Attachment A] <br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the <br />provision of this ordinance be and the same are hereby <br />repealed. <br /> <br />Accept and appropriate the following funds into the General Fund <br />for the FY05 Budget: <br /> <br /> <br />
