September 14, 2004 <br /> <br /> The attorney and police chief requested consideration of updates to the <br /> city dance ordinance to redefine public dances. The ordinance will be on the <br /> September 28 agenda for consideration and action. <br /> <br /> Customer Service Coordinator Brenda Prillaman presented the Southside <br />Neighborhood Focus Report. Inspector Fred Gordon discussed the issues <br />related to property maintenance, which dominated the complaints reported from <br />Southside. The public will have opportunity to comment on the report at the <br />September 28 meeting. <br /> <br /> Mr. Collins asked council to consider, at its September 28 meeting, the <br />city's voting delegate and alternate to the 2004 Virginia Municipal League annual <br />conference. <br /> <br /> Mr. Collins and Wade Bartlett, Director of Finance & General Services, <br />discussed the impending return of a Governor's Opportunity Fund grant to the <br />Virginia Economic Development Partnership. <br /> <br /> Mr. Collins reviewed the consent agenda and reminded the council of <br />pending vacancies on boards and commissions. <br /> <br /> Mr. Clark asked council to discuss uptown tree maintenance. <br /> <br /> With no further business to conduct, Mr. Collins returned control of the <br />meeting to the Mayor.
