June 22,2004 <br /> <br /> 1. Vice Mayor Roop moved to reappoint Marna D. Gruettner, of <br /> 1248 Lanier Road, to a five-year term on the Board of Appeals, <br /> ending May 11,2009; the motion was duly seconded and carried by <br /> the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br /> Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> 2. Council Member Ferrill moved to appoint James E. <br /> Rountree, Sr., of 1221 Mulberry Road, to a four-year term on the <br /> Patrick Henry Community College Board, ending June 30, 2008; <br /> the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, <br /> with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, <br /> Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br />4. Vice Mayor Roop moved to appoint Bernie F. Gray, Jr., of <br />914 Vine Street, to the Martinsville School Board for an interim <br />position for the duration of Joseph E. Finley's leave of absence; the <br />motion was seconded. Council Member Dallas moved to appoint <br />Kathy C. Lawson, of 909 Barrows Mill Road, to such position; the <br />motion was seconded. Mr. Gray was appointed by the following <br />vote, with all members voting: Gray (3) - Ferrill, Roop, Teague; <br />Lawson (2) - Cobbe, Dallas. <br />In response to a proposal from the County Administrator <br />concerning a regional water/sewer authority, Council Member <br />Cobbe stated that Council believes a regional agreement is already <br />in place to address the current and future needs of our community, <br />as evidenced by the memorandum of understanding dated <br />November 1, 2002. Council believes it is unwise to expend further <br />funds or commit additional staff time to additional studies. Vice <br />Mayor Roop moved to transmit such response to the County <br />Administrator; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the <br />following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br />Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br />There being no further business to come before Council during their regular <br /> <br />meeting, upon motion by Council Member Ferrill, duly seconded, by unanimous vote, <br /> <br />Mayor Teague declared the meeting adjourned at 10:04 P.
