May 25, 2004 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on May 25, 2004, in Council Chamber, Municipal Building, beginning <br />at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Gene Teague presiding. Council Members present included: <br />M. Gene Teague, Mayor; Terry L. Roop, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Joseph R. <br />Cobbe, Bruce H. T. Dallas, and J. Ronald Ferrill. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Dallas and Pledge to the American <br />Flag, Mayor Teague welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to approve the minutes of the April 20, 2004, and <br />April 27, 2004, meetings as presented; the motion was duly seconded and carried by <br />the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0: Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, <br />Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Wade Bartlett, Director of Finance & General Services, presented the financial <br />report for month ending April 30, 2004. <br /> <br /> Council considered authorizing the execution of two letters relative to the <br />development of Village at Barrows Mill I and II on the Barrows Mill Road by the John H. <br />Wellons Foundation, Inc. Wendy Painter, of Painter & Associates, stated that <br />approximately 30 residents attended the neighborhood meeting and all were very <br />positive and "left knowing more." Bennie Gray, of 914 Vine Street, stated that all but <br />two Glade Street property owners were in attendance. Vice Mayor Roop moved for the <br />following two documents to be executed; the motion was duly seconded and carried by <br />the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, <br />Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: (A) Letter of support to John H. Wellons <br />Foundation to be included in their HUD 202 application by the Mayor; and (B) Letter to <br /> <br />J,.53 <br /> <br /> <br />
