AGENDA CITY COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF MAHI~NSVILLE, VIRGINIA Council Chambers - Municipal Building 7:30 p.m. - Tuesday, May 25, 2004 Invocation - Council Member Bruce H. T. Dallas Hedge to the American flag I. Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meetings of April 20 and 27, 2004. (See Enclosures # 1-a and # l-b) II. Presentation by the Eighth Grade Scholars Class at Martinsville Middle School. COMMENTS: This Class has worked on a unit called "Project Citizen", which involves community problem-solving. One group wants a skate park in Martinsville. A second group will be asking for a semi-pro baseball team for our area. Ms. Anne Stultz is their teacher. III. Review financial report for month ending 4/30/04. (See Enclosure #2) iV. Consider authorizing the execution of two letters relative to the development of Village at Barrows Mill I and II on the Barrows Mill Road by the John H. Wellons Foundation, Inc. A. Letter of support to John H. Wellons Foundation to be included in their HUD 202 application to be executed by the Mayor (See Enclosure #3-a) Bo Letter to Painter & Associates approving construction of a 6" water line extension to proposed development to be executed by Interim City Manager (See Enclosure #3-b) COMMENTS: Ms. Wendy Painter, of Painter & Associates, will be at your meeting to review this project and answer any questions that you may have. V. Consider adoption of a Resolution designating a portion of Commonwealth Bouleirard directly in front of the Armory as being in honor of the Martinsville/Henry County soldiers of Company H, 116th Infantry Regiment 29th Infantry Division. (See Enclosure #4) VI. Consider adoption, on second reading, of Ordinance 2004-9 establishing the compensation for the new City Manager. (See Enclosure #5)
