Martinsville
A CITY WITHOUT LIMITS

Enclosure a_

May 25, 2004

Mr. John Wellons, Sr.
John H. Wellons Foundation
P. O. Box 1254
Dunn, North Carolina 28335

RE: HUD 202 Application

Dear Mr. Wellons:

The City of Martinsville recognizes the need for affordable housing for lower income
seniors living in Martinsville. We support your efforts to build Village at Barrows Mill I and II
to be located on Barrows Mill Road.

The apartment units will help our City meet the housing needs of our lower income
seniors. The community space will be part of the development and will provide our senior
service agencies a site to offer services, activities and programs that benefit seniors living at
Village at Barrows Mill I and II as well as seniors living in nearby neighborhoods.

The City of Martinsville hopes the U.S. Department of HUD wilt fund the development
of these apartments for lower income seniors. If you need any additional information, please give
me a call.

Sincerely,

M. Gene Teague
Mayor

55 West Church Street P,O. Box 1112 Martinsvillc.
