April27,2004 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on April 27, 2004, in Council Chamber, Municipal Building, beginning <br />at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Gene Teague presiding. Council Members present included: <br />M. Gene Teague, Mayor; Terry L. Roop, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Joseph R. <br />Cobbe, Bruce H. T. Dallas, and J. Ronald Ferrill. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation and Pledge to the American Flag, Mayor Teague <br />welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to approve the minutes of the April 13, 2004, and <br /> April 22, 2004, meetings as presented; the motion was duly seconded and carried by <br /> the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0: Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, <br /> Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Mayor Teague presented a Proclamation declaring April 28, 2004, as <br /> Martinsville/Henry County TRIAD/S.A.L.T. Day in the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br /> Mayor Teague presented a Proclamation declaring May 3-9, 2004, as Public <br /> Employee Recognition Week in the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br /> Mayor Teague presented a Proclamation declaring the month of May as Fitness <br /> & Healthy Weight Awareness Month in the City of Martinsville. He agreed, also, to <br /> participate in a challenge with other local mayors to lose five pounds. <br /> <br /> Council considered a request by the Virginia Municipal League (VML) to submit <br /> nominations for membership on the VML 2004-2005 Policy Committees. Council <br /> Member Dallas moved to appoint the following: Environmental Quality - Council <br /> Member Cobbe; General Laws - Vice Mayor Roop; Finance - Council Member Ferrill, <br /> contingent upon his re-election; and Human Development and Education and <br /> <br /> <br />
