¸9O <br /> <br />Ma~c~ 9, 2004 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on March 9, 2004, in Council chamber, Municipal Building, beginning <br />at 7:30 P. M, with Mayor Gene Teague presiding. COuncil Membbrs present included: <br />M. Gene Teague, Mayor; Terry L. Roop, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Joseph R. <br />Cobbe, Bruce H. T. Dallas, and J. Ronald Ferrill. <br /> <br /> Following the invocatioh and Pledge to the American Flag, Mayor Teague <br />welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to approve the minutes of the February 19, 2004, <br />February 21,2004, and February 24, 2004, meetings as presented; the motion was duly <br />seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0: Yays <br />(5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, RO0p, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Duane Dahlquist, of Blue Ridge Power Agency, Jack Madden, of GDS <br />Associates, and Frederick Ritts, of Brickfield, Burchette, Ritts,& Stone, made a <br />presentation concerning a new purchase power contract. They reviewed the history <br />and membership of the Blue Ridge Power Agency and the contract process. The <br />market has changed due to the fedbral g~vern~bnt deregulating wholesale power <br />sales, natural g~ prices have more than doubled, Coal prices are higher, and greedy <br />suppliers. The current contract ends June 30, 2005. Contracts are being negotiated <br />with four suppliers to ~bet the needs Of the Cities' retail customers through December <br />31, 2009. Vice Mayor Roop moved to au'~horize thb City Mariager to execute such <br />contract with the beS~ PriCe; the motion Wa~ duly s~c6hded ah~l carried by the following <br />vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yays (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br />Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> <br />
