Janua~ 13,2004 <br /> <br /> Council considered approval, on first reading, of Ordinance 2004-1 amending <br /> Ordinance dated December 10, 1974, Section 21-1 Tax Year and tax rates. Ruth <br /> Easley Krauss, Commissioner of the Revenue, stated that this amendment simply <br /> reflects State Code and practice. Vice Mayor Roop moved to approve, on first reading, <br /> such Ordinance; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following roll call <br /> vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br /> Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered approval, on first reading, of Ordinance 2004-2 adding <br /> Sections 21-8.1 and 21-8.2 to Chapter 21 Taxation of the City Code. Ms. Krauss stated <br /> <br />. that this addition simply reflects State Code and practice. Council Member Ferrill <br /> moved to approve, on first reading, such Ordinance; the motion was duly seconded and <br /> carried by the following roll call vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br /> Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered approval, on first reading, of Ordinance 2004-3 adding <br /> paragraph (d) to Section 21-85 of Chapter 21 Taxation of the City Code. Ms. Krauss <br /> stated that this addition strengthens non-payment as embezzlement. Vice Mayor Roop <br /> moved to approve, on first reading, such Ordinance; the motion was duly seconded and <br /> carried by the following roll call vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br /> Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute a Letter of <br /> Intent for the City to participate in a regional hazard mitigation plan. Wade Bartlett, <br /> Interim City Manager, stated that in order to maintain eligibility for Federal pre- and <br /> post-disaster grants after November 1, 2004, political subdivisions of the <br /> <br /> <br />
