40 <br /> <br />November 25, 2003 <br /> <br />Mr. KnOx p¢e~ented a rePsil bm the §tatus of the City, s houSi~ig programs. <br /> <br />Council cOnSidered adoPtiOn of a ResolUtion recogniZing the Mai'tinsville-Henry <br /> <br />County chamber Of Commerce for reaching fully accredited status from the United <br /> <br />states chamber of c0mmero~. Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the follOwing <br /> <br />Resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br /> <br />members voting: VOte 4 - 0; Yeas (4) - CObbe, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />W~'£F~'AS, the City of MartinSville understands and values the <br />community spirit one finds in MartinsVille ~.nd Henry County; and <br />WHEREAS, many community groups and organizations work in <br />conjunction with the City of Martinsville to put the community's best <br />foot forward; and <br />WHEREAS, one such group is the MartinSVille-Henry County <br />Chamber of Commerce, which works diligently to represent the <br />business communi[Y in its areas of expertise; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chamber als0 often acts as the first stop for <br />tourists and community newcomers, thus Crew. ting a first impression <br />of our community; and <br />WHEFiEAS, the Chamber recently received full accreditation from <br />the united States chamber of comrfierce, whiCh is an indication of <br />our local Chamber's status and ability to serve its community; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RE~;0LV~D bY the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled Nbvember 25, 2003, that it <br />does hereby com~'iend the M~_rt.n~vil!e-Henry CoUnty Chamber of <br />Co¢flmerCe on its r~chit-i~ full~,-acbi'b~ited status and thanks the <br />chamber and its leadership for their hard work on behalf of our <br />community. <br /> <br />Matthew Hankins, Public information officer, presented a report on the current <br /> <br />status of the City's franchi§e agreement~ With Adelphia Cable Communications. <br /> <br />Adelphia is in ~Ub~an'tial compliance. HoweVer, A~leiphia is not I~'b~idi~ 75 free lines <br /> <br />to the School Sy~eiih arid is not ~rbViding quarterly Service calls to the City. <br /> <br />Leon To~/~riiiCki, Dir~b~6r bf Public Works, presented a report on the current <br /> <br />status of the ROUte 174/LiberiY Street im~i'ov~mbi~S Projebt. con§~rucfion bids were <br /> <br /> <br />
