Gene Teague <br /> <br />Pledge to the American flag <br /> <br />I. Consider approval, on first reading, of Ordinance No. 2004-1 amending <br /> Ordinance dated December 10, 1974, Section 21-1 Tax Year and tax rates. <br /> (See Enclosure # 1) ': <br /> <br />II. Consider approval, on first reading, of Ordinance No. 2004-2 adding Sections <br /> 21-8.1 and 21-8.2 to Chapter 21 Taxation of the City Code. (See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />III. Consider approval, on f~rst reading of Ordinance No. 2004-3 adding <br /> paragraph (d) to Section 21-85 of Chapter 21 Taxation of the City Code. (See <br /> Enclosure #3) <br /> <br />IV. Consider authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute a Letter of Intent for <br /> the City to participate in a regional hazard mitigation plan. (See Enclosure <br /> #4) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: In order to maintain eligibility for Federal pre and post disaster <br />mitigation grants after November 1, 2004, political subdivisions of the <br />Commonwealth are required to develop and implement local or regional <br />hazard mitigation plans. Martinsville is joining with Henry County, Danville <br />and Pittsylvania County to develop a regional plan through the West Piedmont <br />Planning District Commission. Virginia Department of Emergency <br />Management is providing ninety-five percent (95%) of the funding and the <br />City's portion will be 8370.00. <br /> <br />V. Consider authorizing the City Manager to execute documents relating to the <br /> submission of an application for a USDA rural development grant for an <br /> economic development revolving loan program. (See Enclosure #5) <br /> <br />VI. Introduction of representative from The Mercer Group and hear public <br /> comment on the qualifications that should be considered in hiring the next <br /> City Manager. <br /> <br /> <br />
