July 28, 2003 <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia assembled this 28th day of July in the year of our Lord <br />2003, that said Council does hereby unanimously commend Nancy <br />Amanda Redd for continuously acting as an ambassador on behalf <br />of her native community; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia calls upon all of its residents to lend their <br />support and encouragement to Miss Virginia 2003, Nancy Amanda <br />Redd, as she strives to earn the coveted title of Miss America, <br />2003. <br /> <br />Said Resolution was presented to Miss Redd. <br /> <br />Judy Mattox, on behalf of U. S. House of Representative Virgil Goode, Jr., <br /> <br />presented Miss Redd with an American Flag flown over the Capitol. <br /> <br />Mayor Teague presented Miss Redd a Key to the City, stating, "What a great <br /> <br />ambassador for our community." Council Member Dallas presented Miss Redd a <br /> <br />bouquet of roses from Millner's Bond Service. <br /> <br />The Henry County Board of Supervisors presented Miss Redd with the following: <br /> <br />Adopted Resolution; plaque; bouquet of irises; and a picture frame. <br /> <br />Miss Redd stated, "We're seeing a resurgence of people respecting our <br /> <br />community. People are coming back to our community because it's something we need <br /> <br />to be proud of." <br /> <br />There being no further business to come before Council during their special, joint <br /> <br />meeting, upon motion by Council Member Ferrill, duly seconded, by unanimous vote, <br /> <br />Mayor Teague declared the meeting adjourned at 1:16 P.
