July 22, 2003 <br /> <br />Planning District, which Agreement provides the mechanism for the <br />constitution of such a reserve force involving all local law <br />enforcement agencies of Franklin, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania <br />Counties and those of the Cities of Danville and Martinsville and the <br />Town of Rocky Mount; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville in <br />regular session assembled July 22, 2003, that said Agreement, as <br />recommended by the police chiefs and sheriffs of the West <br />Piedmont Planning District, be, and the same hereby is, approved, <br />and implemented; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of Police of the City of <br />Martinsville be designated as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer <br />under said Agreement and that he is hereby authorized to sign and <br />implement the Agreement on behalf of the City of Martinsvilte. <br /> <br />Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br /> <br />Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virqinia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br /> <br />by Council Member Dallas, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br /> <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br />Appointments/Reappointments to various Boards/Commissions, as <br />authorized by Subsection 1. <br />1. Transportation Safety Commission <br />Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to actual or probable <br />litigation and specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal <br />advice by such counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br />Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to specific legal matters <br />requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel, as <br />authorized by Subsection 7. <br />Disposition of publicly held real proper[y, as authorized by <br />Subsection 3. <br />A personnel matter under the jurisdiction of the City Council, as <br />authorized by Subsection 1. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br /> <br />(1) only public' business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br /> <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br /> <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br /> <br />Session.
