April 22, 2003 <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> Virginia, was held on April 22, 2003, in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, <br /> beginning at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Gene Teague presiding. Council Members present <br /> included: M. Gene Teague, Mayor; Terry L. Roop, Vice Mayor; and Council Members <br /> Joseph R. Cobbe, Bruce H. T. Dallas, and J. Ronald Ferdll. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Vice Mayor Roop and Pledge to the American Flag, <br /> Mayor Teague welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council considered recognition by the Fire Department of the Martinsville <br /> Volunteer Fire Department for a $10,400 donation towards the purchase of three <br /> defibrillators. Randy (Gregory, Volunteer, made the presentation to Jerry Brock, Chief of <br /> Fire. <br /> <br /> Council considered a request by the Virginia Municipal League to submit <br />nominations for membership on its 2003-2004 Policy Committees. Vice Mayor Roop <br />moved to make the following appointments; the motion was duly seconded and carried <br />by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, <br />Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: Environmental Quality - Council Member <br />Cobbe, Finance - Council Member Ferrill, General Laws - Mayor Teague, Human <br />Development and Education - Council Member Dallas,' and Transportation - Vice <br />Mayor Roop. <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption of a Resolution supporting all avenues possible to <br />ensure that quality and affordable health care continue to be available for our citizens. <br />Vice Mayor Roop moved to adopt the following Resolution; the motion was duly <br /> <br /> <br />
