Mayor Teague emphasized the importance of this action and the <br /> possibility of restoring these funds. Council Member Cobbe expressed concern that the <br /> School System said that they could do with less, but after the State announced that <br /> there would be no cuts, they did not cut. By general consensus with no vote taken, <br /> Council set the following budget work sessions: Thursday, May 1,2003, Thursday, May <br /> 8, 2003, and Thursday, May 15, 2003, 11:00A. M.- 1:00 P. M. <br /> <br /> Council considered a report from the City Manager and Superintendent of <br /> Schools recommending an employee health insurance provider for FY04. Iris Read, <br /> Human Resources Manager, reported that 852 employees and 121 retirees a~e enrolled <br /> in the City's health plan and that the Health Care Committee recommended Southern <br /> Health be selected to administer the healthcare benefit program, effective July 1, 2003. <br /> There would be no increased cost to the City. Vice Mayor Roop moved to authorize the <br /> City Manager to proceed with a contract with Southern Health; the motion was duly <br /> seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas <br /> (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered business from the floor. Matthew Hankins, Public Information <br />Officer, reported that (1) the Fire Department will begin a call-in show on Channel 22 on <br />Monday, April 14, 2003, and (2) the Cyberangels will plant a tree on Broad Street in <br />memory of Jennifer Short on Friday, April 11, 2003, 4:30 P. M. Chris Koumparakis, of <br />1772 Farmbrook Road, Ridgeway, stated that all of the money from The Harvest <br />Foundation should be given to Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
