Agr~ment <br />Coalition for Economic Progress <br /> <br /> This agreement is by and between the City of Martinsville (hereinafter the City) <br />and Henry County (hereinafter the County), The Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of <br />Commerce (the Chamber), the Chamber's partnership for Economic Growth (C-PEG), <br />and the Harvest Foundation. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County and the City recognize that economic development, the <br />recruitment of successful businesses, and the creation and retention of satisfying and <br />profitable employment for its citizens are top priorities and key components of the <br />quality of life in our community; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Henry County Office of Commerce and the Martinsville <br />Department of Economic Development have each had success in working with existing <br />and new businesses in the Martinsville and. Henry County area; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County and City desire to expand the regional marketing <br />initiatives; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City and County acknowledge the valuable contributions made <br />to recruiting new businesses and jobs by volunteers in the Martinsvilte and Henry County <br />business community and recognize that the private sector's role in marketing and <br />strategic planning for our community is vital; <br /> <br /> Now, therefore, be it resolved, that in furtherance of the goals mentioned above <br />the City and County now create the Coalkion for Economic Progress (hereinafter <br />Coalition) whose goals, operation and structure shall be as follows: <br /> <br />Mission Statement <br /> <br /> The mission of the Coalition shall be to create a comprehensive strategy to market <br />our community to prospective and existing businesses and developers with the go. al of <br />generating qualified prospects for the City and the County to contact, recruit and ~sist in <br />locating and expanding in our community. <br /> <br />Board Configuration and Governance <br /> <br /> The Coalition for Economic Progress shall consist of a seven member advisory <br />board that will oversee the development ora comprehensive plan to market the <br />community and generate leads, with said board being comprised as follows: <br /> <br />· A business representative appointed by C-PEG <br /> <br /> <br />
