Reynolds .Ir. <br />Page Three <br />November 26, 2002 <br /> <br /> The attached binder provides details regarding all of these Department of Justice Equipment <br />Grants as well as guidance from Justice regarding the expected and allowable costs of eligible <br />equipment items. The binder also provides some guidance developed by VDEM regarding <br />appropriate selection of equipment you may wish to purchase. <br /> <br /> The equipment may be purchased by you directly from vendors through standard <br />procurement procedures. As an alternative, DOJ has entered into purchasing agreements with the <br />U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command and the Defense Logistics Agency. As a subgrantee, your <br />community may avail itself of their services. A description of their capabilities and contact <br />information is supplied in the binder. Please note that DOJ requires that the 1999 funds be obligated <br />by March 23, 2003. The 2000, 2001, and 2002 funds must be obligated by July 3 I, 2004. <br /> <br /> A portion of the DOJ Equipment Grants is to be distributed to local governments on a <br />competitive sub-grant basis. We anticipate mailing information on the competitive sub-grants to you <br />in approximately two weeks. <br /> <br /> We all recognize the importance you place on ensuring the safety of your first responders <br />and protecting the vitality of yoar community.
