Department of <br />Justice Equipment Grant Program. As you will recall from my last letter, this Grant is to assist <br />Virginia localities in preparation for their response to weapons of mass destruction incidents. The <br />Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) is the designated state agency charged to <br />manage these Grants and help you in applying for m~d receiving these ~quipment funk. <br /> <br /> The Department of Justice Grants are intended to allow local governments to purchase <br />response equipment that you identify as being needed in your locality. The funding is restricted, <br />however, to the purchase of equipment fi.om a specified and limited number of commodity areas. <br />The funding is derived from three separate federal grants that have just become available to <br />Virginia.
