Enclosure # I- 13. <br /> TUESDAY, November 26, 2002 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with M. Gene <br />Teague, Mayor, presiding, was held Tuesday, November 26, 2002, in the Council Chambers of the Municipal <br />Building, beginning at 7:30 P.M. The following members of Council were present: M. Gene Teague, <br />Mayor; Terry L. Roop, Vice-Mayor; Joseph R. Cobbe, Bruce H. T. Dallas, and J. Ronald Ferrill. <br /> <br />105 <br /> <br /> After the invocation, provided by Council Member Ferrill, and the Pledge to the American Flag, <br />Council moved upon motion duly seconded, with all members voting: Vote 5-0; Yeas (5)- Teague, Roop, <br />Cobbe, Dallas, and Ferrill; Nays (0)- None, approval of the Minutes of the October 9-10 and November 6, <br /> <br />2002 Meetings. <br /> <br /> Council recognized members of the City's Deer Population Management Task Force including Lester <br />C. Finney, Eladge A. Hall, Joey L. Moore, Etton L. Rakes, Jr., Dennis Earl Reeves, Ira R. Trollinger, and <br />Lynn Wehlau. Council thanked each member and acknowledged the efforts of City Staff for assisting the <br />task rome. <br /> <br /> Council considered authorizing the City Manager to send a letter to the Virginia Department of Game <br />and Inland Fisheries in support of a request made by the Henry County Board of Supervisors to extend the <br />general firearms deer season to seven weeks in Henry County. Mr. Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City Manager, <br />explained that the letter is a formal request from the City's Deer Population Management Task Force. <br />Council moved upon motion duly seconded, with all members voting: Vote 5-0; Yeas (5)- Teague, Roop, <br />Cobbe, Dallas, and Fen-ill; Nays (0)- None, to authorize the City Manager to send the letter. <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption of the City's 2003 legislative policy statements. The City Manager gave <br />an overview of proposed statements, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. CITY MARKETING: Support approval of a request to file a bill on the City's behalf that <br /> would allow the City and Henry County to develop a Martinsville-Henry County license plate. <br /> <br /> <br />
