August 27, 2002 <br /> <br />Road. Vice Mayor Roop moved to authorize the City Manager to formulate a deer <br />population task force and to coordinate with the County of Henry in any joint effort; the <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered a Staff Report concerning the City's request for a VCDBG <br />Planning Grant to assist in the redevelopment of the Church Street target area and the <br />Draper site. Tom Harned, Economic Development Director, presented a project <br />briefing. Two public forums are scheduled for September 16 and 30, 2002, and the first <br />management team meeting is scheduled for September 9, 2002. <br /> <br /> City Manager Reynolds presented a donation request from the Martinsville-Henry <br />County Crimestoppers. He stated that the organization has never asked for a <br />contribution from the City during budget preparation and recommended a $1,000 <br />donation be made from the City Manager's Contingency Fund. Council Member Ferrill <br />moved to make a one-time donation of $1,000 to the organization for specific <br />information relating to the Short case with no implication of any future funding; the <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> John Dyches, Director of Water Resources, presented a Water Status report and <br />recommended a request for voluntary conservation be issued at this time, to be <br />effective either until more restrictive conservation is needed or until the Reservoir level <br />rises above 6.0' below the spillway making requested conservation unnecessary. Vice <br />Mayor Roop moved to concur with the Staff recommendation; the motion was duly <br />seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas <br /> <br /> <br />
