June 11,2002 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on June 11, 2002, in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, <br />beginning at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Members present <br />included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council <br />Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Ferrill and the Pledge of Allegiance, <br />Mayor Crabtree welcomed everyone to the meeting. He recognized, also, Nicholas <br />Drahush, who is working on his community Scout badge. <br /> <br /> Council Member Roop moved to approve the minutes of the May 20, 2002, May <br />21, 2002, May 22, 2002, and May 24, 2002, meetings as presented, and of the May 28, <br />2002, meeting as amended; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following <br /> <br />vote, with all members voting: <br />Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Mark Puckett, Captain <br /> <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br /> <br />of the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue <br /> <br />Squad, <br />the Fire <br /> <br />presented one set of airbags and four sets of repelling equipment to <br /> <br />Department. Clarence Monday, Assistant Fire Chief, expressed appreciation and <br /> <br />congratulated the squad on their 50th anniversary. <br /> <br /> Council considered recognition of City employees receiving service awards from <br />April through June 2002. Mayor Crabtree announced the following: <br /> <br /> 25 Years: Thomas Surber, Public Works <br /> 15 Years: Eldage Hall, Public Works <br /> l0 Years: Karen Harrison, Water Resources <br /> $ Years: Anita Akers, Police Department; Connie Marshall, <br /> Sheriff's Office; Mildred Montgomery, SherifFs Office; John Cassell, <br /> Sheriff's Office; Kevin Turner, Sheriff's Office; and Edward Gower, <br /> Sheriff's Office <br /> <br /> <br />
