May 14, 2002 <br /> <br /> The Authority considered adoption of a Resolution accepting funds from the U. S. <br />Department of Housing & Urban Development for costs relating to the administration of <br />the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program. Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the <br />following Resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, <br />with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; <br />Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Martinsville Redevelopment & Housing Authority <br /> (MRHA) administers a Section 8 Rental Assistance Program <br /> serving Martinsville and Henry County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the MRHA began operating under the direct <br /> administration of the United States Department of Housing and <br /> Urban Development (HUD), on April 1,2002; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Housing & Urban Development has <br /> agreed to advance funds to cover the costs of Housing Vouchers, <br /> Moderate Rehabilitation Program, and administration of the same, <br /> for the months of April, May and June 2002 in the amount of <br /> $422,455; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the Martinsville Redevelopment & Housing <br /> Authority, in regular session assembled May 14, 2002, hereby <br /> accepts the funds advanced by the United States Department of <br /> Housing & Urban Development for the use as outlined above. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Authority during their regular <br />meeting, upon motion by Vice Chairman Teague, duly seconded, by unanimous vote, <br />Chairman Crabtree declared the meeting adjourned at 8:27 P. M. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following action: <br /> <br /> A. 1. Council Member Roop moved to reappoint Michael Rogers, <br /> Chief of Police, to a four-year term on the Drug Task Force Board, <br /> <br /> <br />
