April 9, 2002 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsviile, <br /> Virginia, was held on April 9, 2002, in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, <br /> beginning at 7:32 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Members present <br /> included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, J. Ronald <br /> Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor, was away from the City on <br /> business. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Ferrill and the Pledge of Allegiance, <br /> Mayor Crabtree welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council considered approval of the minutes of the March 26, 2002, meeting, as <br /> presented; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br /> members present voting: Vote 4 - 0; Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop; Nays <br /> (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council recognized the Martinsville High School Boys Basketball Team for <br />winning the Group AA State Championship for 2002. <br /> <br /> Council recognized citizens who have served on various Boards and <br />Commissions. The following were recognized: Ronald M. Stone, Transportation Safety <br />Commission, 1999-2001, Board of Zoning Appeals, 1997-2001; Willis Via, <br />Comprehensive Services Act Community Policy & Management Team, 2000-2001; <br />Samuel B. Nichols, Transportation Safety Commission, 1989-2001; Ricky C. Hall, Board <br />of Zoning Appeals, 1995-2002, Planning Commission, 1998-2002, West Piedmont <br />Planning District Technical Advisory Committee, 1994-2002; Irving E. Simon, Anchor <br />Group Home System Commission, 1999-2001; and Molly W. Morrison, Clean <br />Community Board, 1998-2002. <br /> <br /> <br />
