March 12, 2002 <br /> <br /> MRHA process leading to direct administration of the Section 8 <br /> Rental Assistance Program; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> Virginia, in regular session assembled March 12, 2002, hereby <br /> states its intent to operate The Martinsville Redevelopment and <br /> Housing Authority under the current administrative plan until such <br /> time as adoption of a revised administrative plan is complete. <br /> <br /> Tom Harned, Director of Economic Development, stated that it is now time to <br />begin processing the deed transfer from the Authority to the Commonwealth of Virginia <br />regarding the Starling Avenue property for the Virginia Museum of Natural History <br />(VMNH). He, also, gave a brief history of the property. Steve Pike, VMNH Executive <br />Director, stated that the new VMNH building remains in the State budget and the bonds <br />will be issued in August 2002 or 2003. He reported that they plan to break ground <br />between January 2003 and September 2003 with a completion date of June 2004 to <br />March 2005. He thanked Council and Staff. Council expressed appreciation to him. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Authority during their regular <br />meeting, upon motion by Authority Member Ferrill, duly seconded, by unanimous vote, <br />Chairman Crabtree declared the meeting adjourned at 8:50 P. M. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following actions: <br /> <br /> A. 1. Council Member Dallas moved to appoint Marvin F. Hobson, <br /> of 410 Fifth Street, to an unexpired three-year term on the <br /> Board of Zoning Appeals, ending September 11, 2003; the <br /> motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, <br /> with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, <br /> Dallas, FerriII, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> <br />
