January 22, 2002 <br /> <br />11, 1990, depicting the abandonments required in the secondary <br />system of state highways as a result of Project #650-044-196, <br />C501; 0650-120-101, C501, Spruce Street Extension, which <br />sketches are hereby incorporated by reference; <br />WHEREAS, the new road (now known as Spruce Street) serves <br />the same citizens as those portions of old road identifie;d to be <br />abandoned and those segments no longer serve a public need; <br />now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, in <br />regular session assembled on January 22, 2002, that the City <br />Manager is authorized to request the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation to convey at no cost to the City the residue parcels <br />associated with the Spruce Street Extension project to the City of <br />Martinsville, pursuant to Section 33.1-155, Code of Virginia, and <br />Section 5, those portions of road identified by the aforementioned <br />sketches shown in yellow, containing approximately 38,350 square <br />feet; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this <br />resolution be forwarded to the Resident Engineer of the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of a Resolution requesting the Virginia Department <br /> <br />of Transportation to add eligible lane mileage for collectodlocal street maintenance <br /> <br />payments to the City. Vice Mayor Teague moved to adopt the following Resolution; the <br /> <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br /> <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville, Virginia, is entitled to receive <br />assistance payments for the maintenance of eligible streets under <br />the State Functional Classification System as set forth in Section <br />33.1-41.1 of the Code of Virginia; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of <br />Transportation procedures for adding urban streets eligible for <br />maintenance payments under the State Functional Classification <br />System as set forth in Section 33.1-41.1 of the Code, it is <br />necessary that a request by Council Resolution be made in order <br />for the Department to consider said revisions; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled January 22, 2002, that it <br />does hereby request the Virginia Department of Transportation to <br />add as eligible mileage for CollectodLocal street maintenance <br />payments, the extension of Independence Drive from its previous <br /> <br /> <br />
