204 <br /> <br />Januaw 8,2002 <br /> <br /> Dallas stated that no one promotes church convocations. Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City <br /> Manager, briefly reviewed the current funding of the Office of Tourism through funds <br /> from the State Regional Competitiveness Act. <br /> <br /> Council considered business from the floor. Wayne Sterling, Chief Executive <br />Officer of the Henry County Office of Commerce, stated, "1 am pleased with the terrific <br />support and welcome that I've received. I ask you to consider where we'll go after the <br />sale of the shell building and other acquired properties. We have no major industrial <br />parks left. I can see that you are team players." By a recommendation of Vice Mayor <br />Teague, Council indicated, by general consensus and no vote taken, a willingness and <br />interest to discuss with Henry County an industrial park as quickly as they are ready. <br /> <br /> Dr. Ira Trollinger, School Superintendent, presented the School Board's 2002 <br />Legislative Agenda, including State support for a Regional Governor's School, support <br />for the continuation of the State school construction funds, encourage support for <br />Virginia CARES and JLARC, continue to support the idea that the Standards of <br />Learning (SOLs) should be constantly reviewed and improved, and encourage the State <br />to allow school divisions to establish their own calendars. <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption of a Resolution approving amendments to the City's <br /> <br />deferred compensation plan. <br />overview of the amendments. <br /> <br />Iris Read, Human Resources Manager, presented an <br /> Vice Mayor Teague moved to adopt the following <br /> <br />Resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br /> <br />members voting: <br />(0)- None: <br /> <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville has employees rendering <br />valuable services, and <br /> <br /> <br />
