December 11,2001 <br /> <br />Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the following Ordinance, on an emergency <br />basis; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following roll call vote, with all <br /> <br />members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays <br /> <br />(0)- None: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled, that in order to assure <br />compliance with Virginia Code §15.2-2200, it is stated that the <br />public purpose for which this Ordinance is initiated is to improve the <br />public health, safety, convenience, and welfare of the citizens and <br />to plan for the future development of the community, that the <br />Proposed Land Use Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be - <br />and is hereby - amended to the extent that an area located <br />between Lester, Green, Wade and Clay Street and the railroad <br />right-of-way, specifically identified on the Tax Map of the City of <br />Martinsville as Parcels 33(3)F/1,2; 33(3)G/lB,lC-R,3; <br />33(2)00/1,2,3,4 and 33(3)G/16, are designated as being for <br />Professional usage. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Council expressed its appreciation to City Staff and Administration for their diligence <br /> <br />regarding this matter and Mr. Adkins for his generosity. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of a Resolution to the Virginia Housing <br /> <br />Development Authority concerning the Statewide Section 8 Program. Mr. Knox <br /> <br />highlighted information presented at Council's work session of December 6, 2001. Vice <br /> <br />Mayor Teague moved to adopt the following Resolution; the motion was duly seconded <br /> <br />and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br /> <br />Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0)- None: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development ("HUD") has consented or will consent to the transfer <br />of the ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS CONTRACT(S) dated <br />September 30, 2001 and designated as number(s) VA901; and <br /> <br /> <br />
