December 11,2001 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Eugene became the Electric <br />1993; and <br />WHEREAS, Eugene has decided to retire <br />2002; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled December 11, 2001, that <br />said Council does hereby commend and express its appreciation to <br />Eugene C. Richardson, Jr., for his faithful and dedicated service to <br />the City and its citizens for the past twenty-six years, and wishes <br />him good health and happiness in his retirement. <br /> <br />Division Manager in <br />effective January 1, <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Janice B. Lawson was first employed by the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, in the Parks and Recreation Department from <br />January 1969 to July 1970 and again from April 1972 to October <br />1973; and <br />WHEREAS, during her break in tenure in the Parks and Recreation <br />Department, while she was a "stay-at-home" Mom, Janice also <br />worked in fill-in capacities from time to time as the Switchboard <br />Operatod Receptionist, clerical help in the Social Services <br />(Welfare) Department, and Secretary to the City Manager; and <br />WHEREAS, Janice became the Secretary to the City Manager in <br />December Of 19;75 and remained in that position until March of <br />1995, when she was promoted to the newly created position of <br />Executive Services Coordinator; and <br />WHEREAS, during her tenure in the City Manager's Office, serving <br />four City Managers, Janice also served as Secretary to the Fire <br />Department/Volunteer Fire Company and Traffic and Planning <br />Department as part of her duties, served as Recording Secretary <br />for the Planning Commission from 1975 to 1980, and for the <br />Industrial Development Authority from 1972-2002 and also served <br />as substitute Clerk of Council from 1975-1997. <br />WHEREAS, Janice has decided to retire effective January 1, 2002; <br />now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled December 11, 2001, that <br />said Council does hereby commend and express its appreciation to <br />Janice B. Lawson for her faithful and dedicated service to the City <br />and its citizens over the past thirty years, and wishes her good <br />health and happiness in her retirement. <br /> <br />Council recognized City employees receiving services awards from October <br /> <br />through December 2001: <br /> <br /> <br />
