' <br /> <br />October 9, 2001 <br /> <br />public health, safety, convenience and welfare of its citizens and to <br />plan for the future development of the community, that the Zoning <br />Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be-- and is hereby -- <br />amended to the extent that Parcel 23(2)1 of the Zoning Map of the <br />City of Martinsville, located at 200 Lester Street, is hereby rezoned <br />from M-1 Industrial to RP-1 Residential-Professional and, <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Council considered conducting a Public Hearing and adoption of an Ordinance <br /> <br />on a request to amend the City's Proposed Land Use Map to indicate property located <br /> <br />at 200 Lester Street (corner of Wade Street) (Tax Map 23(2)1) be designated as <br /> <br />Professional rather than the present designation of Industrial. Mayor Crabtree declared <br /> <br />the Public Hearing open. With no response, Mayor Crabtree declared the Public <br /> <br />Hearing closed. Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the following Ordinance, on an <br /> <br />emergency basis; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following roll call <br /> <br />vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br /> <br />Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled, that in order to assure <br />compliance with Virginia Code §15.2-2200, it is stated that the <br />public purpose for which this Ordinance is initiated is to improve the <br />public health, safety, convenience, and welfare of the citizens and <br />to plan for the future development of the community, that the <br />Proposed Land Use Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be-- <br />and is hereby--amended to the extent that 200 Lester Street, Parcel <br />23 (2) 2, on the Tax Map of the City of Martinsville, is designated <br />as being for Professional usage. <br /> BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br /> existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of a Resolution requesting the Virginia Housing <br /> <br />Development Authority (VHDA) to amend its guidelines to authorize local jurisdictions <br /> <br />administering the Section 8 Rental Assistance to terminate assistance to tenants <br /> <br /> <br />
