December 11, 2001 <br /> <br />35 Years: Abe Motley, Water Resources Department <br />30 Years: Donald Clark, Electric Department <br />25 Years: Elaine Gordon, Community Development-Housing <br />20 Years: Gary Dove, Police Department <br />15 Years: William Shultz, Finance Department-Utility Billing; <br /> Emory Davis, Water Resources Department <br />10 Years: Jerry Boaz, Finance Department-Utility Billing; Chris <br /> Harris, Water Resources Department; Mark Gilbert, Police <br /> Department <br />5 Years: Michael Thornton, Public Works Department; Nathan <br /> Worrell, Public Works Department; Rhonda Hatchett, <br /> Sheriff's Office <br /> <br />Council recognized the nominees for the 2001 Fourth Quarter Service Excellence <br /> <br />Award, Irene Turner, of the Police Department, and Randy Gregory, of the Public Works <br /> <br />Department. Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City Manager, made the presentations, and <br /> <br />announced Mr. Gregory as the quarterly winner. <br /> <br />Council considered business from the floor, but there was none. <br /> <br />Council considered conducting a Public Hearing on a request from Ellen Ward for <br /> <br />a Special Use Permit for property at 319 Starling Avenue located in a P-2 Professional <br /> <br />District. George Hayfield, Associate <br />children's items by appointment only. <br /> <br />Planner, stated that Ms. Ward plans to sell <br />Mayor Crabtree declared the Public Hearing <br /> <br />open. Christine Bennett, property owner of 319 Starling Avenue, spoke in favor of the <br />request and inquired about signage. Wayne Knox, Planning, Zoning, & Housing <br />Manager, replied that any sign within the City's guidelines would be acceptable. Mayor <br />Crabtree 'declared the Public Hearing closed. Council Member Roop moved to grant <br />the Special Use Permit for a period of one-year with the stipulation that all sales and <br />displays be confined to indoors; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the <br />following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, <br /> <br />Roop, Teague; Nays (0)- None. <br /> <br /> <br />
