Awaiting hiring of the vacant, City's Public Information Officer, deadline set for 6/30/02. Council will seek an update to the information on an every three-year cycle. Objective: Increase the effectiveness of City response to citizen concerns. Action Plans: Council will agree on a protocol for reporting citizen concerns to City administration. 6/30/02 Members of Council will seek opportunities to be advocates for how effective the City is in providing core services with the recent reduction of resources. Ongoing City Manager will submit to Council by December 2001 recommendation for the realignment of City Departments and staff assignments. 12/31/01, on-track Develop a plan for City use of Public Access Channel. Council decided to conduct business meetings with the same format of business items as is, then feedback will be utilized to make necessary adjustments. The first broadcast is scheduled for October 23, 2001. The City will possess capabilities to place public service messages on the channel, on a scrolling marquee. Objective: Increase the ability of the City to attract and retain high-quality staff. Action Plans: Implement the new pay program recently approved by Council. Develop a program that encourages improved performance and creates opportunities for employees to participate in career enhancement activities. Council set a work session for November 1, 2001 on both of these action plans. Goal: Aggressively seek regional opportunities for cooperation. Objective: Explore regional cooperation with neighboring counties and cities.
