Objective: <br /> <br /> Expand efforts to attract information technology employers. <br />Action Plan: <br /> <br /> 158 <br />THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2001 <br /> <br />Ongoing <br /> <br />Seek an information technology company for the BB&T property. <br /> <br />Continue to identify other community properties that are suitable for marketing to information <br />technology companies. <br /> <br /> Both of these action plans are ongoing. <br /> <br />Objective: <br /> <br /> Support development of regional transportation initiatives. <br />Action Plan: <br /> <br />Council will express its strong support to state and national officials for all tranSportation efforts, <br />especially developments in regard to 1-73, US 58 and US 220. <br /> <br />Review the public transportation study and determine the feasibility and action plan for its <br />implementation. <br /> <br /> Both of these action plans are ongoing. <br /> <br />Objective: <br /> <br /> Support community efforts in the development of travel and tourism activity. <br /> <br />Action Plan: <br /> <br /> g Support the Chamber of Commerce's Office of Tourism and their efforts to increase tourism. <br /> Ongoing <br /> <br />Goal: Assure that community resources create the most effective government system <br /> possible. <br /> <br />Objective: <br /> <br /> Increase community awareness of recently completed inventory of City programs and services. <br />Action Plan: <br /> <br /> Provide the completed inventory for citizen review at the library at the Historical Center in <br /> Bassett. <br /> Awaiting hiring of the vacant, City's Public Information Officer, deadline set for 6/30/02. <br /> <br /> <br />
