August 14, 2001 <br /> <br />125 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on August 14, 2001, in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, <br />beginning at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Members present <br />included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Coundl <br />Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Ferrill, Mayor Crabtree welcomed <br />everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the Minutes of July 5, 2001, and July 24, <br />2001, as presented, and July t0, 2001, as amended; the motion was duly seconded <br />and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br />Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0)- None. <br /> <br /> Council presented a plaque to the family of the late William D. Hobson in <br />recognition and appreciation of his service to the City as a Council Member and Mayor. <br /> <br /> Council recognized Joseph E. Finley for his service to the Drug Task Force of <br /> Martinsville-Henry County, 1989-2001, and Alvin Ratliff for his service to the Henry- <br /> Martinsville Joint Social Services Board, 1998-2001. <br /> <br /> Council considered recognizing Renee Wyatt, Public Information Officer. Vice <br /> Mayor Teague moved to adopt the following Resolution; the motion was duly seconded <br /> and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br /> Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cynthia Renee Wyatt was employed by the City of <br /> Martinsville, Virginia, on November 22, 1999; and <br /> WHEREAS, Renee was the City's first Public Information Officer; <br /> and <br /> <br /> <br />
